Burnt Table Top Hander Woodworking
The top of this table was part of an extensive fire damage job that was brought to Hander Woodworking by another refinisher.  A set of burnt chairs which required rebuilding also arrived as part of the job and can be seen in the Furniture Restoration section as well.  This table top and apron sections were ultimately rebuilt, as seen below, to match the original.
Three quarter inch Medium Density Fiberboard was used as the table core.  Solid red oak edges were shaped to the proper profile and biscuits were used for gluing the profiles onto the MDF.   After gluing the profiles, plain sliced red oak veneer was then cut, taped, glued and pressed to the MDF and oak substrate.  Finally, solid red oak aprons were cut and shaped to match the originals and attached to the tops.
